WAVERLEY NOTES

RI GBY DEMONSTRATION FILM AT WAVERLEY (Own Correspondent) Players and officials of the Waverley Football Club were fortunate enough to witness a showing of the football film recently made at Auckland, only ten of which are available in New Zealand. Most of the players depicted in the film have worn the silver fern and were ideal subjects to demonstrate the various tactical moves of Rugby. It was generally conceded by players that the feature of the film was the exhibition of dribbling. Dr G. J. Adams, chairman of the Wanganui Union, prefaced the screening with some remarks on physical fitness and the general benefit derived from participating in team sport.

Mr. Dobbs, Wanganui, was in charge of the screening and upon its completion, Mr. E. C. Dallison, president of the Waverley Club, thanked Dr. Adams and Mr. Dobbs for making the film available. MEN’S GOLF During the week-end a medal round was played by the men and an entrance fee of 2s was charged, the proceeds being in aid of the National Patriotic Fund. A very pleasing amount was raised and it is hoped to hold another competition at a later date. W. Gaitt and R. Hammond were equal with 69 nett. Other scores were B. How 71, N. Bromiley 72, M. Dallison 76. LADIES’ GOLF NOTES On Tuesday a Canadian foursome was played over 15 holes, when the seniors played with the juniors. Mrs. Palmer and Mrs. Hunt had the best score with a 45 nett and Mrs. Honeyfield and Mrs. Rivers were second.

After golf on 'Aiesday a meeting was held. Those present were Mrs. Handley (president), Mesdames Dallison, Honeyfield, Gray, and Miss T. Aiken.

A letter was read by the secretary from the Seafield Club inviting Waverley down for a match on a Saturday. It was decided to write and ask if Saturday, May 18, would be convenient for them.

An invitation is to be sent to the Patea ladies to visit Waverley for an inter-club match on May 2 or 3. A programme is to be drawn up for each Tuesday of the month by the committee. The May programme will be as follows: Tuesday, 7 and 21, L.G.U. medal rounds, when members will be drawn; Tuesday, 14th., bogey match, and Tuesday, 28th., sealed hole competition (members to choose their own partners for these two days).

A lengthy discussion took place on the lengths and bogeys of the holes and it was decided that the L.G.U. secretary write to Miss MacCormich, New Zealand L.G.U. secretary, asking her advice.

The following is the draw for the L.G.U. medal round to be played on Tuesday, April 30: Miss Garland v. Mrs. K. Honeyfield; Mrs. Handley v. Mrs. D. Lupton; Miss T. Aiken v. Mrs. Pepper; Mrs. Palmer v. Mrs. G. Watkins; Mrs. Rivers v. Mrs. Gray; Mrs. F. Train v. Mrs. J. Brown; Miss Lupton v. Mrs. W. Muir; Miss B. Elmslie v. Mrs. .Christensen; Mrs. Wallace v.
