KAWHATAU COLLIE CLUB
ANNUAL TRIALS (Own Correspondent.) MANGAWEKA, April 11. Excellent weather prevailed tor the annual Kawhatau Collie Club dog trials and there was a very good attendance ot the public. Although only \ two days were allotted, the entries were far more than was anticipated, and it ran well into the third day before the competitions were completed. The judge, Mr. F. Cottrcd, complimented the officials and said how lucky they were to have such an efficient secretary as Mr. Furber. Mr. G. Ferguson, president of the club, also spoke in glowing terms of the work done by the secretary, and said that the success of the meetings were mainly due to his untiring efforts, likewise the club were very grateful to the ladies, who each year undertook the catering arrangements, and, as each one knew, this was no light task. Following are the results: Class I.—H. H. Harris' “Tyke” 1, E. Siddles' “Joe” 2, J. Goodwin's “Top” 3, E. Wright’s “Mate” 4. Class lI.—H. H. Harris’ “Rock ” 1, F. England's “Don” 2, C. B. Cottereli» “Tip" 3, N. Millar’s "Fay” 4. Class lII.—G. Ferguson's "Rock’ 1, G. Clarke's “Toss” 2, E. Wrights “Mate” 5. Trophies.—Club's Cup, H. h. Harris; Goodwin Cup, H. H. Harris; Ladies’ Cup, G. Ferguson, Dickinson Cup, G. Ferguson; Team Cup, J. Goodwin; Gorringe Cup, K. Deighton. Special Prizes. —G. Bramley's special (Class 111., C. Zohs; club's special , (Class III), C. Zohs; club's special (Class I) E. S. Wilson; club's special (Class II), C. B. Cottrell; G. Ferguson's special, G. Ferguson. The sheep used for the trials were kindly lent by Mr. C. F. Dalgety. The sheep-guessing competition was won by Rev. C. Webster and H, ! Wright (equal). / <
