HOLIDAYS OVER
CROWDS RETURN TO THE CITY FROM OTHER PARTS STREAMS OF MOTOR-CARS After enjoying perfect weather for the full holiday period, many hundreds of people who had made Wanganui their destination and headquarters for Easter left again for their own homes yesterday. Hundreds more returned to Wanganui from all points of the compass, but particularly from Wellington after passing the holidays away from home. All day long, particularly in the morning, and as nightfall approached, roads leading north and south of Wanganui were thronged with continuous lines of cars. But while returning traffic into and from the city reached impressive proportions, hotel bookings show that many visitors from provincial and other parts have still to leave for their homes. Both visitors and Wanganui people made the most of every minute of the holiday and yesterday, with continued sunshine, there was scarcely any diminution in the numbers who went to the Collegiate School sports, tennis, golf, and bowling fixtures. The beaches, river excursions, and picture theatres were al! liberally patronised. Practically ail normal trading will be resumed’ to-day by business firms. However, banks will not reopen until to-morrow and legal offices next Monday.
