OHAKUNE Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Gower, of Ohingaiti, who have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Gower, of Lakes’ Road, Ohakune, have returned home. Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Jeffery, members of the Alpine Club, are spending their holidays at the Ohakune mountain hut. Mr. and Mrs. G. Cook, of Wellington, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. Willis, Tohunga Road, Ohakune. WAVERLEY Miss C, Newland has returned to Waverley from a short holiday m Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Sheppard and Miss Joyce Sheppard were visitors to New Plymouth during the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. J. Watkins are Waverley visitors to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. S. Bromiley have returned to Waverley from a holiday rn the South Island. Mrs. J. Littlewood, Kohi, is visiting Taumarunui. Mrs. Grantham and Miss Grantham, Hawera, are visiting Waverley as the guests of Mrs. J. McDonald. Miss Joy Tallot has returned from a holiday spent in Palmerston North. Misses M. G. and M. Aiken, wno were camping at the Waverley beach for a few days, have returned to Liverpool Street, Wanganui. Mrs. T. B. Symes, Miss A. Symes and Messrs. H. and C. Southcombe, Waverley, were visitors to Wanganui for the golden wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Morgan. BULLS Mr. G. Bertram is holidaying in Wellington. Mr. G. D. Flower left this week for the Marlborough Sounds. • Mr. J. McMillan will spend Easter at Taupo, trout fishing. Mr. L. D. Whisker leaves to-nighl for Auckland to attend the races. Mr. and Mrs. G. Bending are in Auckland for their son’s wedding this week. Constable Turvey, of Palmerston North, is in charge of Bulls police district at present. Constable Ede and Mrs. Ede are spending their annual holidays in Wellington, visiting the Exhibition. MARTON

Seaman Rex Williamson, of H.M.S. Achilles, is at present on leave and is visiting his mother, Mrs. F. E. Williamson, Bonny Glen, Marton. Mr. and Mrs. E. B, Gordon, “Braemore,” Marton, are at present holidaying at Turangi, Lake Taupo, TAIHAPE Mr. W. H. Adair, foreman-secie-tary of the Taihape Fire Brigade, will represent the brigade at the annual conference of the United District Fire Brigades’ Association to be held at Upper Hutt at Easter. The occasion will also mark the jubilee of the Hutt Brigade. The many friends of Mi. H. A. Paterson, of Huia Street, Taihape, wih regiet to learn that ne is entering Palmerston North Hospital next weei< for a period of approximately six months. A presentation of a wallet of notes was made to Mr. C. Fisher, uii employee of the Public Works Department at Taihape on Tuesday evening by fellow employees o£ the department and employees of the Rangitikel County Council. The presentation was made by Mr. J. Ensoii, Public Vv orks engineer at Taihape, who referred to the fact that the recipient was to be married shortly and his workmates and employees of the County Council wished to give him a suitable wedding present. Messrs. Cox and E. E. Owen also spoke. Mr. Fisher returned thanks for the gift and expressions of esteem and goodwill.
