OPERA HOUSE

“THE LION HAS W INGS” The reconstruction of the Royal Air Forcu raid on the Kiel Canal area at the beginning of the war alone makes "The Lion Has Wings,” which is showing finally to-day at Lie Opera House, is well worth seeing. The reconstructed successful bomb.ng attack on German naval vessels is snown in all its vivid realism, and the..c scenes in the picture take on greatly added interest from the fact that tii- airmen shown climbing out of their machines after the attack are the actual air crews who carried out the job. “Here I Am a Stranger” Pvichard Greene plays his first great starring role in the 20th Centuiy -Fox production "Here I Am A stranger,” which opens to-morrow at the Opera House. Weil-remembered by his triumph in "Kentucky,” this young British actor has again shown his capability in this daringly significant drama of modern life. Playing opposite him is Brenda Joyce, a new star, who made a successsful entry to films reecntly in "The Rains Came." These two head a fine cast which includes Richard Dix, Gladys George, Katherine Aldridge, Russell Gleason, George Zucco, Edward Norris, and Henry Kolker. For those who know Roland Young only as a master of droll comedy, a pleasant surprise awaits. In "Here I am A Stranger,” he portrays a professor of English who is also a sympathetic father. He plays his part with his inimitable charm. The film opens with the pathetic parting of Clara (Gladys George) from her husband, Duke Allen, an irresponsible newspaperman (Richard Dix), in order to provide a more promising future for their son David. She marries a wealthy man who gives her son security and a fine education. How the son grows to manhood in an environment that is not rightly his; how he rediscovers his father and helps rehabilitate him; now he falls in love outside of the group his mother had chosen for him, is unfolded in this unusual story based on the novel by Gordon Malherbe Hillman.
