Meteorological Oilice, Wellington. Wednesday, February 21, 3 p.m. General Situation. - The tropical cyclone near Noumea appears to be losing intensity. An anti-cyclone is centred to the northeast of New Zealand and pressure is relatively high over the whole country. Forecast -Winds: Light to moderate northerlies predominating over the Auckland Peninsula, moderate to fresh winds from a westerly quarter, thence southwards. Seas (New Zeealand waters): Moderate to rather rough south of Cape Egmont and about Foveaux Strait, elsewhere slight or moderate, but rising later about Cook Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to fresh northerly winds and slight to moderate seas in the northern portion; fresh winds from a westerly quarter, and rather rough seas in the southern portion. Weather: For the most part fair to cloudy, but with some morning mist or fog. especially in western areas. Possibly a scattered drizzle. Temperatures mild to warm. I he New Zealand Friends’ School.
