WORLD-WIDE SYMPATHY
RELEASE OF BRITISH WAR MATERIALS I SCANDIN AVIAN COUNTRIES AND U.S.A. HELP [ British Oflicial Wireless.] RUGBY. Jam 17. News received in London during lhe past. 24 hours indicates that, sympathy with Finland is world-wide. Together with the Scandinavian countries, both the United Stales President. Mr. Roosevelt, and the British Prime Minister. Mr. Chamberlain, have shown that they are resolutely determined to give substantial help. In the House of Commons, when Mr. Chamberlain stated that export licences were being granted for the release of war materials to Finland, subject to Britain’s own needs, he added that, it was not in the interests of the public that these materials should be defined. The King and Queen and Queen Mary have contributed to the Finnish Fund. Volunteers from Norway. Norway is giving practical assistance, and volunteers were to have left for Finland yesterday. In Switzerland volunteer medical corps are being organised for service in Finland. The cost of sending this aid would be borne by Switzerland. A message from Stockholm states that when volunteers are called for medical service in Finland there are more volunteers than the number of vacancies to be filled.
