STORTFORD LODGE HASTINGS, January 17. j A yarding of 6UOU head ol store • sheep, a big percentage of which were wethers, met with an improved market at Stortford Lodge to-day. Competition was keen for wethers and lambs, with prices, generally, in vendors’ favour. The chief offering was an outstanding line of four-tooths which realised 21s 3d; other forward four-tooths made 18s to 19s, and pens in gooa store order to 17s. The top price for two-tooths was 18s sd. Except for a few small-grown Downcross lambs, the offering was made up of Romney pens. Medium-grown ewe lambs in good order brought 18s, others in lighter condition 16s, and small and very light 10s 6d. Forward wether lambs sold at 17s 6d to 18s lid, good medium pens bringing from 15s to 16s 6d, and small-grown pens from 7s to 10s. There were no outstanding offerings in the ewe market. Twotooths lacking size and off hard counmade 20s sd, sound-mouthed ewes n good store order 13s 3d, and fatten.l :g ewes 9s 6d. I Except lor .-rond-class sorts, which tie dearer, the fat cattle market - lowed little change. The yarding of 250 head included 60 dairy sorts. The chief entry was a i line of short-framed bullocks in extra prime condition, scaling about 7501 b.. which made £l2 7s. A heavier entry topped the market at £l3 2s. Prime cows in good condition made £7 10s to £B, plain pens showing age from £4 10s to £5, average pens of heifers in light prime order £7 10s to £B, and extra prime pens to £9 15s. The tops made close on 30s a 1001 b., and other lots lacking in condition about 275.
