FRENCH PATROLS INTO GERMANY
VALUABLE INFORMATION BROUGHT BACK NAZI PLANES PASS OVER BELGIAN TERRITORY PARIS, Jan. 4. The official radio states that the French patrols penetrated nearly two miles into German territory and brought back most valuable information. A mobile detachment ambushed the enemy and took several prisoners. French planes reconnoitred Germany to a depth of 250 miles. Germans flew over eastern and northeastern France and violated Belgian territory when homeward bound. The French official communique states: "There was nothing to report during the night." Last night’s French communique stated: "During the day patrol and reconnaissance parties successfully fulfilled missions at various points of thn front. Toward mid-day two enemy planes were brought down by air fighters." Mr. C R. Attlee. Leader of the British Opposition in the House of Commons, who is visiting the 8.E.F., on Wednesday evening sent a message to the men he had seen, in which “We shall watch closely the position of the workers at home. It is also up to us tn help the relations of those who are out here, because the more we can do tn make things happy and secure on the hnme front the more we can strengthen the front out here.”
