I HKISTMAS PARTI I MANY MEMBERS PRESENT A happi scene was presented at the lounge of the Y.W.-Y.M.C.A. on Wednesday evening, when a Christmas party was held for the members of the Y.A.'s. The decorations added to the Christmas spirit which prevailed, ’overhead were gay paper streamers j linked in red and green, and the tables were bright with sweet peas and Iceland poppies. Numerous novelties, crackers, squeakers, miniature fir trees with silver bells, red candles in silver candlesticks, snow houses, all intertwined with silver tinsel streamers, gave a Yuletide appearance to the many long tables set with a banquet which was enjoyed by about 130. Members of the committee and board present were Mr. T. S. Russell (president) and Mrs. Russell, Mrs. J. A Hair (chairman of the Y.W.C.A. committee and president of the ladies auxiliary of the Y.W.C.A.), Miss Vera Marshall (secretary), Mr. and Mrs. H. West, Mrs. Beaumont Bates. Miss E. Graham, Mr. and Miss Beaven, Mrs. J. McDougal, Mrs. G. S. Simpson, Mrs. W. Gilbert, Mrs. Summerell, and Mrs. Darnley. Miss Marshall was the toast mistress and the toasts honoured were: “The King,” “National and International YW.-Y.M.C.A.," ably proposed by Mrs. Beaumont Bates and responded to byMr. Beaven; “The Women's CommitBoard, and Ladies' Auxiliary,” Miss Marshall; “The Association Family,” proposed by Mr. T. S. Russell and responded to by Mrs. J. A. Hair; “The Spirit ot Christmas,” Miss Rayner. Various choruses were sung during the evening and a tableau of the nativity was staged with appropriate music and carols. Accompaniments were played by Miss Myra Harris (piano) and Mr. Jack Dunlop (violin). Trophies for gymnastics were presented to Miss Joyce Reed and Miss Fay Price. Miss Marshall was the recipient of a gift from the Y.W.C.A. and. in making the presentation. Miss Rayner said how much they had appreciated the secretary’s work, also the work of the committee. Miss Marshall suitably replied, speaking of the organisation and how much she enjoyed the work. Peter Read had the honour of cutting the brightly decorated Christmas cake, which was later sliced and handed round. Before dispersing, the w'hole company joined in the singing of the Nai tional Anthem.
