( HRISTMAS BOXES FROM SOUTH AFRICA JOHANNESBURG. Dec. 6. The South African Mayors' National *und is sending £lOO,OOO to Britain s the Union’s Christmas gift and also s the first monetary contribution for he prosecution of the war. In addition it is sending 2,000,000 outh African cigarettes as Christmas oxes for British and French troops, fter which it will send a million lonthly. The fund, which is Union-widb, ffals £200,000. A Singapore message says that the itest contribution to the Malaya Pa*iotic Fund is 1000 dollars from the ingapore Rickshaw Owners’ Associaon, the majority of whom are nonritish subjects. The accompanying tter states: “This is a measure toward playing ir part as citizens of this colony and •wards expressing our gratitude for le kind treatment received at the i inds of the British Government. We >pe such a small sum will not be r ?spised.”
