PRESBYTERY OF WANGANUI

MEETING AT BULLS The Presbytery of Wanganui met in Bulls on Tuesday, the Moderator, the Rev. A. L. Dixon, presiding. Elders’ commissions, which had in most cases been renewed, were received, and a welcome was extended to the following new members: Messrs. Pagan (Feilding) and Caird (St. Paul’s, Wanganui). Mr. James Maclure, of Marton, who recently returned from a trip to England and Scotland, was also welcomed. Reference was made to the long service rendered to the Presbytery by Mr. Bartholomew, of Feilding, and it was decided to send a letter of appreciation to him. On the application of St. Andrew’s |Church. Palmerston North, provision was made for the ordination of Mr. Allan Baxter, who has recently accented the position of assistant minister. A commission, including the Moderator, and the ministers and elders of Palmerston North and Feilding, was appointed to carry out the ordination. The Rev. A. L. Dixon reported that the work of renovating the church at Halcombe had been completed. The Rev. J. Hubbard, in reviewing arrangements for the centenary, mentioned the special assembly to be held in St. Andrew’s Church, Wellington from February 20 to 23 next year, and also that the closing dates for prepublication orders for the centennial history of the church had been extended to December 16. Attention was drawn to the retirement from active service in January of Mr. P. M. Murray, home missionary, of Manawatu South. It was resolved to entertain Mr. Murray at luncheon at the next meeting in Palmerston North on February 13, when reference would be made to his splendid service in the church.
