EMPIRE AIR SCHEME ANNOUNCEMENT EXPECTED THIS WEEK AMERICANS LIKELY TO PARTICIPATE (.By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) Received Dec. 6, 5.5 p.m. OTTAWA, Dec. 5. An announcement of the formal acct ptance of the Empire air training scheme is expected toward the weekend. The New York Times says American airmen are likely to participate. Hundreds of applications have been received, many being offers of service as instructors. It is announced that Europeandescended residents in Canada who are not citizens will be acceptable, but they must take the oath of allegiance. Some experienced United States pilots will baulk at this, but they will be used as unenlisted instructors at flying clubs for the preliminary training of recruits. Australia’s share in the cost of the Empire air scheme would not be less than £50,000,000, stated the Australian Prime Minister, Mr. R. G. Menzies, in Canberra..
