INOCULATION

Sir,—“Progress” does not reason, and therefore cannot be reasoned with. I do not “evade”; though I may ignore irrelevancies. I used chemical injections as part of the treatment in certain cases of established disease because they gave helpful results. But “Progress” may recall that my warning to the people of New Zealand was. and still is, against the danger and stupidity of trying to keep healthy people well by inoculating them with disease; not against intelligent use of chemical remedies. “The majority of persons suffering from cancer and hc/.t disease,” says “Progress,” “have never had injections.” But how can “Progress” know that? And even if true, the assertion is entirely irrelevant. We bring cancer and heart disease upon ourselves by an egregious variety of preventable fatheadedness of which “immunization” is but one. “Cancer attacks some of the most healthy,” says ’ Progress.” Good heavens; so ill-health attacks some of the most healthy, does it? Attacks them, indeed! What a horrible thought! For, according to orthodox medical men (and “Progress” agrees no doubt), there are hundreds of “diseases.” And we can hope to escape them, it seems, only if we are repeatedly “immunized” against them all? Well, I for one intend to try living reasonably healthily, and chance it. “Progress” crowns his effusion by diving into one of the regular channels of medical and germ propaganda and coming to the surface with a typical specimen. If he watches the medical and lay Press, the picture screen and radio programmes, he will discover innumerable examples of a like kind and identical purpose—a purpose that succeeds apparently only too well with some! But 1 do not intend to impose any longer upon the Editor's generosity. I propose to examine more fully many aspects of this important matter before a public meeting, probably next week. Time and place will be advertised in the Press.—I am, etc., ULRIC WILLIAMS.
