CHARGES OF THEFT
SALESMAN CONVICTED Convicted on four charges of theft al Brunswick, Cyril Henry Charles Nicholls, salesman, was ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within six months when he appeared before Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Wanganui yesterday. Detective-Sergeant J. Robertson said that Nicholls was employed by an Auckland firm which sold aluminium cookers. He had placed orders in Brunswick, but had not sent the orders or the deposits to his firm. He had received deposits of £1 from Jessie Ross and Reginald Clements and of 10s from Nora Crawley and John Eric Murray, all of Brunswick. In Hastings last month Nicholls had been convicted on five charges of theft and had been sentenced to imprisonment for three months on each of two charges. The magistrate said he did not intend to increase the term of imprisonment being served by Nicholls on condition that restitution was made or that the cookers ordered by the people involved were delivered. Nicholls gave an assurance that the orders were being filled by his firm. He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within . six months if called upon.
