POWER FAILURES

TROUBLE IN WELLINGTON TRAM TRAFFIC AFFECTED [Ter Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Dec. 4. Twice to-day, and each time at a rush hour, electrical defects caused an interruption to the Wellington tramway system. At 8 a.m. a defect, small in itself, in a fusebox near the railway station, resulted in the holding up of long lines of cars. The trouble was put right and a secondary trouble developed in the Lambton Quay circuit., In all fifteen minutes' of delay occurred before the service moved off normally. Shortly before 5 p.m. trams and lifts in the city were halted by a power failure which lasted for 16 minutes. The failure was caused by trouble at the sub-station at Dannevirke, resulting in a break in the circuit between Waikaremoana and Mangahao.
