WAITOTARA CLUB OFFICIAL OPENING OF SEASON The official opening for the 1939-40 season of the Waitotara Bowling Club took place on Saturday afternoon, Visiting bowlers were present from Eltham, Rapanui. and Waveriey. Mr. J. G. Verry, president, welcomed the visitors, and in declaring trie green open, called on Mrs. Verry to throw up the kitty. The results of games are as follows: Billinghurst, E. Morrison, W. Morrison, F. Handley 33, v. Watson, W. Hurley, E. W. Lee, Wicks 14. Foley. Aiken, Nicol, Dalton 25. v. J. J. Hurley, J. Armstrong. Alexander, J. G. Verry 20. Coutts, Thomas. Watkins. Dallison 23, v. Simson, Train. H. J. Wilson, Blackie 22. Hopkinson, A. Verry, A. Handley 36, v. L. Munro, Olsen, G. Handley 13. Mr. Wicks returned thanks on behalf of the visitors for a most enjoyable afternoon, and in doing so, referred in complimentary terms to thv great improvement of the playing surface or the green During the week-end Waitotara wax favoured b ya visit from two teams of Patea ocwlers, and close and interesting games eventuated as follow: McClymont, Bromtk-y, Ramsbottom.
