FROM KOATANUI

Draft For Yearling Sales SIX COLTS AND FOUR FILLIES PROGENY OF RINGMASTER AND POSTERITY When the Koatanui Stud draft of yearlings lor the 1937 national sales, at Trentham, passed through the salering and the Posterity—inlaid colt fen to the bid of the Sydney trainer J. T. Jamieson for 310 guineas, one of the bargains of the sale-ring had been purchased. The colt was bought by Jamieson on behalf of Mr. Stan Crick, of Sydney, who gave the yearling to his wile as a binhday present. Raced on Mosaic, the colt was later leased to the Sydney trainer J. H. Abbs until April 1940. He won the A.C. St. Legei and the Sydney Cup last Easter and over £lo,oou in stakes, and already this season has won Colin Stephens Stakes (dead-heat with Royal Chief) at Randwick and the W. S. Cox Plate at Moonee Valley, and is one of the ruling favourites for next Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup. One may wonder whether there will be another such bargain as Mosaic in the Koatanui draft lor next January’s sales, for it will be a quality offering. Here is the list of yearlings to be sent down by Mr. G. M. Currie: - Bay colt by Posterity from Curtain Cl hespian—Cowi). Brown colt by Ringmaster from Jewel of Asia (Grosvenor —Aye.sha 11’. The filly from Severe is also a first foal, her dam being a daughter of Drax, dam of Spiral. It will be interesting to see how such well-bred yearlings are valued by buyers at the next yearling sales. , Mr. Currie is retaining two yearlings which he will race himself. They are a colt by Spiral from Veil (Absurd— CowD and a filly by Posterity from Impetuous (Limond—Pennon ). The coll is a half-brother to the A.J.C. and V.R.C. St. Leger winner Veilmond.
