VISIT TO WANGANUI ARCHDEACON BULLOCK TAKES SERVICES The concluding service to the ‘ Day | of Giving” at St. Peter’s Church, Gon- • ville, last night was taken Archdeacon W. Bullock, Vicar-General of the Wcl-' lington Diocese, assisted by lhe Re\. i V. C. Venimore, the vicar ol the l parish. There was a large* congregation. Among those present were Mr. W. J. Rogers, Mayor of Wanganui, and eignt councillors and their wives. They were welcomed by Mr. Venimore, who .stressed the need lor co-operation be- • Lween lhe Church and civic bodies. Archdeacon Bullock took for his text "The iooi saith in his heart: There is no God." The countries that at the present moment ban religion would find, and were in tact finding, that tne Cnuich could not be done without, and that religion could never truly be stilted. He attributed the rise of the conditions in these countlies to the apathy of tne people. They had failed to take an interest in the th.ng: in life wnich really mattered. in conclusion ihe archdeacon emphasised me fact that this couiu happen in any country if the people gave way io apathy.
