Meteorological Office, Wellington, Sunday, Oct. 29, 3 p.m. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone extends on to northern New Zealand but pressure has fallen rapidly in the south, with the approach of a rather intensive westerly depression. Forecast.—Winds: Northerly at first from Cook Strait southwards, but a change to south-westerly advancing from the south during the night, directions between west and south continuing over the North liiand. Force becoming moderate to strong generally. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough on the west coast and about Foveaux Strait, elsewhere slight or moderate but later rising off-shore south of East Cape. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong winds between south-west and south-west and west, possibly rising to gale force in the southern portion. Seas rather rough to rough. Weather: Mainly fair in the Auckland province, elsewhere cloudy and unsettled, with some rain probable in most districts, but more especially in the south. Temperatures moderate in the north and cold in the south.
