WANGAEHI BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Wangaehu branch of the W.D.F.U. was held on October 24. Mrs. Mackintosh, president, was in the chair, and others present were Mesdames Connors, Humphries, Lul’h Liggins, Mackie, Jones, O’Leary, Olsen, Peffers, Grant, and Misses Bignell (2), and M. O’Leary. Apologies were received from Mesdames Honcyman and W. Baldwin. Letters were received from the Marton and Turakina branches, con- . veying birthday greetings; also from Mrs. Mercer, returning thanks for the letter of congratulations which had been sent to her. A competition arranged by Mrs. i Mackintosh was won by Mrs. Jones. [There were a number of entries in j the knitting competition, the prizei winners in the plain knitting being {Mrs. Luff first and Mesdames O'Leary, ’ Connors and Jones tied for second 'place. Tn the baby clothes section ithere were only two entries, Mrs. Mercer and Mrs. Cooper ticing. For a knitted tea cosy Mrs. Grant was • first and Mrs. O’Leary second. 11 was decided to again hold a flower show in February, arrangements for which will be finalised at the next ; meeting. The next meeting will be held on November 28. this being the last meeting of the year. Hostesses will be Mesdames Anderson, Peffers and [Mackie. i A parcel of goods from the disabled ; soldiers’ shop will be on sale at the November meeting. A very dainty afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Connors. Luff and O’Leary, after which the meeting closed.
