RANGITIKEI CRICKET

TO-DAY’S MATCHES Consequent, upon the inability of the Hunterville Cricket Club to function before Christmas, it has been found necessary to redraw the fixtures fo/- this afternoon. The fixtures will now be: Porewa v. Taihape Railway, at Taihape. Old Boys v. Marton, at Marton. It is unfortunate that the notice of the alteration is so short, but the association had no advice earlier of the position. Thus the championship has now been narrowed down to a fourwam competition. Owing to such short notice it is very unlikely that Porewa will get a team away to Taihape. The game at Marton is between the two winning teams of last week and an interesting game is predicted. Old Roys began the season well and it will take Marton some task to snatch a i victory to-morrow, especially if the] latter team is short of players.. Teams to hand are: Old Boys.- M. Wysocki. I. Jolly, B. Klitscher. J. Duncan. A. Duncan. D. Comrie, C. S. Beechey. P. Johnstone, D. Kingham. L. Griffin and B. Desmond. Uni- , versal’s "The Sun Never Sets’’ will | bring Douglas Fairbanks, jnr.. Basil i Rathbone, Virginia Field, Barbara ; D’Neil, and others to the screen of the Civic Theatre this afternoon and evening and Monday evening. While the new picture concerns itself largely with the romantic careers of two closely-knit couples in England and on the Gold Coast of Africa, it has its background in the channels of international diplomacy. Fairbanks and ' Rathbone, as brothers and British | civil service officials, find themselves ] in a dramatic position as key charac- ■ lc:-. in a political emergency that I might rock the entire world if their ' heroic efforts prove in vain.
