I HIGHER THAN THAT OF I .K. ! GOVERNMENT >1 j MINISTER'S BROADCAST I Per Press Association J WELLINGTON, Oct. 26. Au indication that New Zealand had not received a single offer Irom th*' United Kingdom Government equal to the price the New Zealand Government was now paying to the dairyfarmer for his butter and cheese, was given by the Minister of Finance and Marketing, Hon. W. Nash, in a national broadcast from his office in Parliament Buildings at Wellington this evening. The Minister outlined the stages in the negotiations with the dary industry over the fixing of the guaranteed price tor the current season and said lhat the Government was urging the United Kingdom Government to increase its offer for the purchase of the Dominion's produce. Mi. Nash de- | voted some time to refuting rumours which, he said, were current. The dairy newspaper, he said, mentioned the British Government had fixed a maximum price of 1455. That, however, had nothing to do with the New Zealand Government, which was nol getting 1455. That was the jyice fixed by the British Government for all butter imported into the United Kingdom and it was the price which had been fixed when the market was short. The price the Government was paving the farmer to-day was 130 s sterling for butter and 77s 6d sterling for cheese. The deficit in the account for butter was £1,349,000 and for cheese £1,182,000. Against that there was u surplus from the previous season ot over £500,000. RESENTMENT WIDESPREAD DISSATISFACTION WITH GUARANTEED PRICE ( Per Pre?. Assodatica. I WELLINGTON, Oct. 26. !
