LATE MR. G. H. POWNALL
TENNIS ASSOCIATION’S TRIBUTE Reference to the death of Mr. G. FT. Pownall has been made in a special obituary notice prefacing the annual report to the Wanganui Law n Tenn .- Association. “During his long connection with the game Mr. Pownall rendered excellent service, both to your association and also to the New Zealand association, at whoso meetings he was often elected to take the chair,” states the report. “Mr. Pownall was the. first secretary of your association. 1911-12, president 1924-1927 and 1933-36, vice-president 1927-33 and 1936-39, and during the intervening periods a member of the Managemcn: Committee. “Mr. Pownall represented your association in inter-association matches and took a keen interest in the promotion of junior tennis. Through hi.s fleath the association has Jost a very enthusiastic supporter.”
