ON AWAPUNI TRACKS

HORSES FOR TRENTHAM GALLOPS ON SATURDAY Awapuni stables are well represented at Trentham and recent trials suggest that some of the stake money should come to this centre. On Satui-i day the course proper, with the Hags about 20ft. out, was in demand lor fast work, and there were a number of very attractive gallops. Among the horses which drew attention to ihoii Wellington chances were Disdain, Kahui, Classform, Old Bill. Bcauparli: and The Bigot, however, did not appear to work as well as on Thursday, states the Manawatu Daily Times. The first to gailop were Disdain (G.' R. Tattersall) and Wings of Song (B. H. Morris) and they wasted no time over six furlongs. They passed the three in 39sec. and came home strongly to complete in 1.18 4-5, with Wings of Song finishing better than her companion. Next were Taitama (Morris) and Ecstatic (Tattersall), who were together at the end of three run in 3b 4-ssec. Laughing Lass (Pratt) easily covered the same distance in 39seu., and Vascones (J. Chaplin) galloped smoothly to record 38 3-ssec. Malik Kal’ur (Morris) was just in front of Royal Sign (Tattersall) at the end of six in 1.2(J 3-5. the last three taking them 41sec., time they could have bettered. Silvanus (Chaplin) recorded 1.24 for the last si.x of an easy seven, and Patahi (light boy) was not off the bit during four, which took him 56 3-ssec. La Bru (Morris) beat Manteau (Redstone; over five in 1.7, and Classform (E. Stewart) was in front of Aurora's Star (Temperton) at the eno of six run in 1.20 4-5, the last three in 39 4-5. Bridegroom (Tattersall) and High Peer (Chaplin) were on terms and going well at the end of a mile in J ol 2-5. Knapp’s horses go to Cambridge next Friday night. H Best of the Morning. One of the best gallops of the morning was that of Kanui t lattcrsall) and the long-striding chestnut was going strongly at the finish to cut the dislance out in 1.19, lhe last three m 39sec. Clarion Call (Jarvis) and Ruaform (Rohloff) were schooled and Clarion Call gave a faultless display of iaui jumping. Beauparlir (W. Jenkins) and The Bigot (B. H. Morris) were worked over a mile and Beauparlir was in front al the finish. They ran the nrst live in 1.7 3-5 and Beaupartir came home in 41sec. to complete in 1.48 3-5. Beaupartir was being kept up to .it at the finish and he did not work as well as he did on Thursday. Old Surrey (P. Rae) next galloped a mile on his own. He is a good track worker and he maintained an even pace, covering the last seven in 1.35 Nigger Mark (Jenkins) and Gold Chase (D. B. McGregor) sprinted three in 39sec., Millament (Buenanan) covered live in 1.8 2-5, and Guiding Light (Chaplin) and Renascor (Tattersall) were together at the end oi seven in 1.38 1-5. Earl Colossus (Rae) took 1.36 2-5 for lhe last seven of a mile and Sporting Gift (Jenkins) was not under pressure to record 1.24 for six. Golden Ridge (McGregor) and Brazil (Ireland) were timed to run seven in 1.36, and Sceptre (Ireland) beat Little Dorrit (Jenkins) over six run in 1.19 3-5, the pair breaking 40sec. for the first three. Raeburn (Ireland) and Sudan (Rae) were together at the end of seven run in 1.37, and Cherry Bay (Buchanan), after a slow beginning, came home in better than 39sec. to complete half a mile in 53 3-ssec. Lambourn (Rae) and Squeers (Ireland) sprinted three in 39sec. Florence Mills (Bowden) was sent out for an even lime gallop over live, but .she is a hard puller and she was anxious to go fast. Bowden held her for two furjongs but she covered the last three in 4l)scc. She looks well al present and if she goes to the post at Trentham it will not surprise if she gives a good account of herself. Old Bill (Bowden) worked ovei seven. He does not gallop well unless he has a companion, but he surprised by cutting the distance out in 1.34 3-5, the last three in 40sec. He should beat more than will beat him in the Wainui Handicap. C. G. Goulsbro will ride Luke Wilson’s Trentham team. Quadroon will not go to Trentham and he has been scratched for all engagements. Last Thursday morning he was given a working gallop ovei five on the plough but he broke down, this time in his good leg. It was bad luck for lhe stable because Quadroon was likely to have done well at Trentham. L. G. Morris was to send his horses to Trentham yesterday, and B. H. Morris will do. most of the riding. H. N. Wiggins will be on The Bigot. Mrs. McDonald’s horses, also J. J. Waller’s, Jim Coyle’s and L. Wilson’s, go through to-day, and L. Knapp’s representatives leave to-morrow.
