BRITISH EMPIRE WRESTLING TITLE BLOMFIELD'S CHALLENGE [ Per /Association.) WELLINGTON. Oct. 15 The British Empire champion, Ead McCready (Canada) retained the title in a professional heavyweight wrestling match with “Lofty” Blomfield on Saturday night. The challenger held him to a draw, neither managing to take a fall. The bout was comparatively placid It afforded an exhibition of clean, orthodox matcraft, rarely interrupted by rough play or spectacular incidents. Infringements were unusually rare and the referee was seldom called on to intervene. The Town Hall was packed, many • standing. The crowd, which included Imany uniformed men, gave the protagonists a routing reception. McCready weighed 17st. and Blomfield 16.5.
