Sunday, October 15, 3 p.m. General Situation.—A weak anti-cyclone now covers the Dominion, but pressure is commencing to fall in the far south with the slow approach of the depression across the South Tasman. Forecast.—Winds: South-westerly at first in the Auckland province, otherwise north to north-west prevailing: force moderate mainly but freshening about and south of Cook 'Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters): Becoming rough south of Cape Egmont and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; slight to moderate elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light and variable winds and slight seas in the northern portion with freshening northerly winds; rising seas in the southern portion. Weather: For the most part fair to tine, but unsettled conditions developing later in Westland and Southland. Frosts probable to-night in the South Island, but temperatures mild to-morrow.
