NORTH SEA SHIPPING LIE GBTBN TO NAZI CLAIMS Received Oct. 14, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 13. A high authority has revealed that I three Polish destroyers, namely the | Blyskawica, Grom, and Burza, have I been co-operating with the Royal I Navy s:ncc the outbreak of the wat in the English Channel. The patrols are doing extraordinarily good work and the lighting spirit of the personnel is very high. British naval advices give the lie to German claims to dominate by air tie. North Sea in which convoys are running like clockwork and fishing Heeu are operating normally. It is believed the claims are a deliberate attempt to (1) maintain German interna] morale, (2> impress neutrals with the might of the German air arm, and (3) lure the Royal Navy to make dangerous sallies. It is now learned that the recent North Sea action wasted eight houts. The German bombers came in relays, but failed Io score a single hit. Theii casualties are unknown, but it. is believed that at least, six were brought down. BRITISH COAL OUTPUT BIG INCREASE PLANNED | British OHicial Wireless | Received Oct. 14. 5.5 p.m. RUGBY, Oct. 13. The British coal industry is planning to increase output by about 300,100,000 tons yearly. Much of the extra :cal will bbe used to meet the in-/rc-asing demands of the export marmarket. Bigger supplies are required by 1 France and large orders are expected Tom Italy as the result of negotiations now being actively pursued with he Italian Government. Orders in terms of the Anglo-Polish agreement are now at an end because he Polish mines are in Germany's possession. The valuable Scandinavian market was divided almost equally between Britain and Poland. British exporters hope not only to ream their share of this market hut to increase it. Proposals whereby Britlin’s coal production can largely bo expanded are being submitted to the jovernment by the coal owners and ?oal miners’ organisations. The home industries will also want more coal than formerly now that hoy and other factories engaged in he country’s war effort are conning nto ma x i mum pro duct ion.
