“Doctrine of Atonement ’ was the subject of the lesson-sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, October 15. The golden text was I John 2:1, “If l any man sin, we have an advoc ate ‘ with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” Among lhe citations which com-; prised - lhe lesson-sermon were the j following from the Bible, “And all i things are of God who hath reconciled us to himself by Christ Jesus, and hath | given-to us the ministry of recon- ■ ciliation: to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto ' himself.” (II Cor. 5:18, 19.) Also the following passages from the Christian Science text-book, “Science .and Health with Key to lhe Scriptures,” by Mary Baker Eddy, “Atonement is lhe exemplification of man'. l unity with God, whereby man rpfiects divine truth, life, and love. Jesus of Nazareth taught and demonstrated. man's oneness with the Father, and for this we owe Him endless homage. It was therefore Christ’s purpose to reconcile man to God, not God to man.” (pp. 18, 19).
