ON FIRE IN MID-PACIFIC
JAPANESE SHIP WITH CARGO OF NITRATE SERIOIS explosion feared Received July 18, 11.55 p.m. TOKIO, July 18. The Bokuyo Marti, en route from Los Angeles to '"okohama, is on fire in mid-Pacilic. The ship carries 110 passengers and a crew of 101 and a cargo of Chilean nitrate. In response to an 5.0.5.. the San Pedro Maru, Florida Maru, Nippon Maru, and Azuma Maru are proceeding to the scene at full speed. The first of the rescue ships is expected to arrive in 24 hours Nothing has been heard from the blazing ship for 13 hours. A serious explosion is feared if the fire reaches the cargo.
