DRUNK IN CHARGE
CYCLIST FINED A fine of £2 and 3s costs was imposed on Michael Joseph Head in the Magistrates Court at Wanganui yesterday by Mr. A. Coleman, S.M., on a charge of being in charge of a biIcycle while in a state of intoxication in College Street on July 15. j Senior-Sergeant L. R. Capp, who conducted the case for the police, said that the driver of a motor van ihad pulled into a gateway to turn and while backing out heard a crash at the rear of the van. On investigating, he found Head, who was uninjured, lying near the bicycle. The police were sent for and it was found :ihat he was intoxicated. Head said that before the accident jhe had ridden to Gonville and back land had covered a distance of about •four and a-half miles. j Mr. Coleman said Head was not ’only a danger to himself, but might get other usets of the road into trouble.
