MORE THAN 250 RECRUITS

WELLINGTON WEST COAST REGIMENTS TWO UMTS FORMED More than 250 recruits in the No. 6 Regimental District have joined the Wellington West Coast Regiment during the last month, according lo figures supplied by the Army Department, Wanganui. Including those who joined at. la-sl night's recruiting rally, 126 have carolled in the Wanganui area. Two new units were recently formed at Feilding and Palmerston North, wiln strengths ol 79 and 48 respectively. There were 14 Taihape recruits and three Marton recruits. An increase ot 217 in the cnrolnvn in the New Zealand National Military Reserve, bringing the total to 14,000, was recorded in the 48 hours to 9 a.m. yesterday. Details are: Class 1. 1830; Class 2 (returned soldiers), 5564; Class 3, 4250; ineligible, 2364. Wellington leads with 1900 enrolments, Auckland is next with 1864, and Christchurch third with 1625. The Wanganui postal district total, which was 762 on Saturday, is now 766, and the military district total is 1306.
