BICYCLE REGISTRATION PROPOSAL

R. r i Semple, to-day m support of his contention that a form of registration of bicycles is necessary. The figures ai showed a further point in« support ol the case for registration, said the Minister. In the year ended December 31 last 175 bicycles recovered by the authorities were unclaimed by their owners and a further 120 were unclaimed during the six months ended June 30. The Minister said that these figures in themselves were sufficient argument in favour of registration. It was a measure that should be welcomed by cyclists and local authorities alike. T Although no legislation to cover ti registration of bicycles has yet been tc drafted it is believed likely that when c i a measure is prepared it will include provision that initial registration wifi serve for all time, no annual renewal being required.
