BOYCOTT BY CHINESE ACTION IN DUNEDIN [ Per Preiß Association. 1 DUNEDIN, July 17. Dunedin Chinese will support the boycott of Japanese onions, but the Dunedin portion of the shipment is sure of disposal despite the boycott. STATEMENT BY CONSULATE IN WELLINGTON ( Per rrests Association.) WELLINGTON, July 17. Chinese in Wellington support their countrymen in Auckland strongly disapproving of the importation of Japanese onions, saying they would not handle them under any circumstances. The following statement has been made from the Chinese Consulate: The boycott has been started voluntarily by the Chinese themselves, as all of them has signed "The People’s Pact" 1o pledge themselves not to buy or handle the enemy's goods. As far as this Consulate-General is concerned it cannot take any action which may tend to stifle 'he patriotic ardour of its own nationals. WANGANUI SUPPORT FOR BOYCOTT Unanimous disapproval of the importation of Japanese onions was expressed at a meeting of the Wanganui branch of the New Zealand Chinese Association yesterday. The branch has decided to support a boycott of the onions.
