A MIRACULOUS ESCAPE
(AR (RASHES THROUGH FENCE A miraculous escape from possible death was the experience of a party of motorists travelling towards Marton on Friday evening, when a car containing three passengers, crashed through the railing ot Curl's bridge, and overturned, coming to rest on ts side inches from a six foot drop into the bed of the stream. It is understood that the party consisted of two women and a man, the driver being one of the women. The car was evidently travelling from Bulls and the driver failed to realise that the corner was so near and was unable to slew round to the bridge, the vehicle going througn the fence. Details are meagre but it is believed that the two women were severely cut about'the face by flying glass and bruised and first aid was given by a passing motorist, and a resident in the vicinity, Mr. Thoms. The car was extensively damaged, the righthand side being well crumpled. The windscreen was broken and the righthand front wheel a mass of tangled steel, while blood was spattered over the interior. The car belonged to Mr. H. L. Osborne, of Ohingaiti.
