FRUIT MARKETING COMMITTEE
MEETING IN WELLINGTON ( Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 19. The Fruit Industry Marketing Committee appointed by lhe Government, held its lirst sitting at Wellington today. The acting-Minister for Marketing, Hon. W. Lee Martin, who presided, said that the function of the committe was to recommend the best means of carrying into effect the requests from the industry that the Government should lake over the marketing of pip fruits, both locally and overseas. It. was not intended to duplicate the investigation already done by the committee which sal. in 1937 and reported on all phases of the industry, and it was not I nought necessary for the present committee to sit outside of Wellington. For a future meeting of the committee, Mr. F. R. Picot, Director of the Internal Marketing Division, will act as chairman.
