AUSTRALIAN VISITORS VON NIDA AND CREMIN TO PI.AY AT BELMONT Two leading Australian professional golfers, Norman von Nida and Eric Cremin, who are on a tour of New Zealand, will play at Belmont on Monday next, when they will figure in a four-ball match with two leading Wanganui amateurs, B. has produced and a player with some notable victories to his credit, Norman von Nida will attract attention. In the matches he has played so far in New Zealand von Nida has played golf ot the highest class, and Wanganui golfers can look forward to some brilliant play. Small in stature, von Nida can get good length from the tee and is a most attractive player to watch. His record is an outstanding one. Ln 1935-36-37 he won the Queensland open championship, in 1936 the Queensland close, Darling Downs professional, Southern Tasmania, New South Wales professional, in 1936-37 the New South Wales professional foursomes with V. S. Richardson, in 1937 the Federal open, in 1938 the Lakes open, and he was runner-up in the Australian open championship. In 1938-39 he won the Philippines open championship. In challenge matches von Nida has defeated the Americans Gene Sarazen and Walter Hagen, and the South African Bobby Locke. He has been playing competitive golf for eight years since he was 16 years of age; before entering professional ranks he played as an amateur for four years. Cremin has twice won the Australian professional championship and twice won the New South Wales professional championship.
