Electric Cooking Demonstrations. The Wanganui-Rangitikei Electric Power Board advise that demonstrations in cooking by electricity will be given by Miss C. Wadmore, the demonstrator at the Power Board’s office, St. Hill Street, on Tuesday, May 2, at 7.30 p.m. and Wednesday, May 3, at 2.15 p.m. A cordial invitation is extended to all interested.

Coming-af-Age Party. On the 24th. inst. many friends gathered at the Margaret Watt Home to celebrate the 21st. birthday of Miss Nancy Che]ley, the first member of the home to attain her majority. Several of the ‘Old Girls and Boys’ came from a distance to honour Nancy. The guest of honour, wearing ; a white embroidered organdie frock, I With apricot sash and carrying a posy to tone, received her guests with Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Rule. Mr. Colin Sherriff was M.C. and had arranged a delightfully varied programme, in which all joined with obvious enjoy-

ment. Musical items were given byMrs. O. Warnock, Misses Joyce Patterson, Chelley and Syme. Messrs. Sherriff and Rule and the children ot the home. The Rev. A. C. McLean, representing the Watt trust, proposed the toast, Miss Chelley charmingly replying. Misses G. Croom and B. Wilson, members of ‘The Den Club’ of Warnocks, whose birthdays coincided with Miss Chelley’s were presented with bouquets. The M.C’s. birthday was ushered in at midnight by the reading of an ‘Ode’ especially written for the occasion and presented to him with “Birthday honours.” Amongst the many congratulatory telegrams received was one from Dr. M. Waft, of Dunedin, the Watt family representative on the trust.
