annual meeting. lOwn Correspondent.) MARTON, April 26. The annual meeting of the Marton Boxing Association was held on Monday evening, Mr. E. C. JZaddock presiding over a good attendance of boxing enthusiasts. The annual report was read and adopted as follows: - Your committee has much pleasure in reporting on the activities of the association during the 1938 season. Only one tournament was held and the patronage accorded was very good. We started the year with a credit of £9 13s 7d and concluded with £9 13s Bd, which, after taking into account I he lateness

of the tournament, is very satisfactory. Members' subscriptions amounted to £9 ss. The association very much appreciates the generosity of the donors of trophies. We have suffered a heavy loss in the departure from this district of Mr. Hugh Shields, who, as our president, did so much to revive Ihe activities of the association and whose untiring efforts helped so much in our tournament. Our best I hanks are due to the members of I he executive for their loyal co-operation, and to the boxers, trainers and the general public for (heir valuable support. The following officers were elected: —President, Mr. C. W. Stafford; patron, Mr. E. C. Haddock; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs. K. Scott, C. Aitken and A. Gracie; secretary, Mr. R. L. Gill; treasurer, Mr. A. Barr; executive committee. Messrs G. Griffin, J. Adams, W. H. Summerton, R. Rivers, J. T. Vance, W. D. Jackson, O. Gibbons. H. Fitzgerald, W. Webb and J. H. Jensen; trustees, Messrs. E. C. Haddock and A. Barr. The membership fee was fixed at ss. The following were appointed a match committee: Messrs. J. Adams, O. Gibbons and C. Stafford. Messrs. Haddock and Barr donated trophies for competition and were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The secretary and treasurer were each granted a bonus of £2 2s It was decided to hold open amateur tournaments during the season.
