CARNIVAL AT MAXWELL sk c’essu l function held. (Own Correspondent.) As part of the Physical Fitness campaign in the Waitotara county, the Maxwell Baths Committee organised a swimming carnival at the Maxwell I Baths on Saturday. Under a blazing sun and amidst picturesque surroundings a varied programme of events was run off before a large attendance cf the public. A number of swimmers from the Central Club, Wanganui, motored out. Mrs. Chavannes gave a demonstration of diving, Miss : Watts of the backstroke and Mr B. Haworth demonstrated various styles lof swimming. The Maxwell branch ;of the Women's Institute ran a re--1 freshment stall which was well patronised. Results of events:— Boys under 12, 25 yards: L.
