TWICE FORCED DOWN
AUSTRALIAN TREASURER FLIGHT IN A STORM MELBOURNE. March 6. The Federal Treasurer, Mr. R. G. Casey, and Mrs. Casey, were twice forced down by a storm which they tried unsuccessfully to fly round. Finally they were compelled' to abandon the plane in a small paddock at Carisruhe. They were flying from Canberra to Melbourne, and Mr. Casey was piloting the plane. When the second forced landing was made, due to heavy banks of low cloud, a crash was narrowlyaverted, Mr. Casey having to pull the machine abruptly into the air again to skim over a barbed-wire fence.
