SACRED HEART CONVENT

OLD GIRLS’ “AT HOME.” The beautifuf convent grounds, with their beds of brilliant flowers oathed in sunlight, formed a delightful setting for the annual ‘at home’ of the Sacred Heart old girls held on Saturday last. The swimming baths were a scene of great activity as the boarders’ swimming sports took place on the same day, and under the direction of Messrs. J. Cotterill, M.P., Relph and assistants, provided thrilling entertainment for all present and certainty cooler sport for the participants than for those enthusiasts who took part in the tennis tournament.

A stall, set out under the shade of a weeping willow, did brisk business, the stall-holders (Mrs. O’Reilly and Misses O’Meara, Holty and Clark) being kept busy attending to the demands of their customers, while other competitions in charge of Messrs. Mitchell, McCarthy and Dobbs were all keenly contested. In the boarders’ diningroom a delicious afternoon tea was served, those in charge being Mesdames Dobbs and McCarthy and Misses Clark, Rusdoe, Robinson and Cahill. All who attended voted the afternoon most enjoyable and to all who lent assistance and so helped to swell the scholarship fund the Old Girls' Committee is most grateful. Following are the results of the competitions: Chocolates, Bernard Mullins (winning ticket No. 68); competition- No. 2, Mrs. Fitzgerald (winning ticket No. 78).
