Meteorological Office, Wellington, Monday, March 6, 3 p.m. General Situation.—Pressure has fallen in the south with the approach of a depression from the Tasman. A deeper depression is centred off the central east coast of Australia. Forecast.—Winds: North-easterly to northerly, light to moderate over the northern half of the North Island, elsewhere moderate to strong. A change to southerlies advancing later from the south. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rather rough to rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits and on the west coast of the South Island, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate but freshening northeasterly winds in the northern portion and southerlies in the southern; seas becoming rather rough to rough. Weather: Scattered rain in western and far southern districts of the South Island and some drizzle later extending along the east coast. Weather: For the most part still fair, however.
