Before a roeord crowd of 65.000, including scores of cinema notables, the Santa Anita meeting reached its climax to-day when the following was the result of the Santa Anita Handicap, a sweepstakes with 100.000 dollars added, 13 miles: Kyak 11, 7.12 (Ralph Neves), 1; Whichcee, 8.0, 2; Main Man. 8.5, 3. Kayak II is from the same stable as Seabiscuit. The winner’s share of the stake was 91,000 dollars, the second horse's 20,000 dollars, and the third horses's 10,000 dollars. Kayak II won by a length and a half after a gallant challenge down the straight, and he set a new track record by running the distance in 2min. 1 2-ssec. The wagering broke all records for the course. 1,700,000 dollars passing through the parimutuels during the day, with 376,000 dollars on the feature race alone.
