TELEVISING SPORT

ACTION IN BRITAIN FULL DISCUSSION SOUGHT Received March 5, 6.5 p.m. LONDON, March 4. The British Boxing Board of Control has ruled that, a promoter must not allow a fight to be televised or photographed for motion picture purposes without the board's sanction. Boxers must receive permission before participating in such fights. The board is approaching other sports governing bodies and the B B.C for a full discussion. A message from London on February 5 stated that a televised programme was seen for the first time on a large cinema screen when a Marble Arch theatre audience viewed the fight between Boon and Danahar for the lightweight championship of Britain, which was held at Harringay, 10 miles away. The pictures compared favourably with the newsreels of the fight.
