SCENERY PRESERV ATION SOCIETY VISITS DOMAINS IN RANGITIKEI (Own Correspondent). MARTON, Feb. 3. A picnic outing held on Saturday was much enjoyed by members of the Rangitikei Preservation and Treeplanting Society, visits being made to domains, reserves and beauty spots. The parks are under the able control of the Domain Board, whose chairman is Mr. Dukeson, with headquarters at Hunterville and wnose work of securing portions of native forest and making them attractive to all who wish to study native flora or to those on picnic bent, or to scenic lovers, will stand for all time is Nature's monuments, perpetuating their memories in the hearts of our grateful descendants. Leaving Marton at 10.30 a.m. the members travelled by the LeedstownHunterville Road, took the Taihape Road, turned to the right at Vinegar Hill and entered Putae Ngahere Domain, one of the most picturesque ot Nature's domains. After wandering through the bush a halt was made for lunch. Then a move was made to reach the parking area on Simpson Park, which is completely surrounded by a wondrous display of forest giants. Then on again to Bruce Park, at Hunterville. another priceless Bruce Estate gift, where a pleasant time was spent in admiring its beauties and indulging in afternoon tea, terminating a most enjoyable outing.

What, the Domain Board has done for this and future generations in securing and attending to these parks ot native forest, each coming generation shall surely add many a stone Io a monument to their memory, by helping to keep for ever green those priceless gifts —the domains. Thanks are due to the Rangitikei Tree-planting and Scenery Preservation Society for arranging such an enjoyable picnic, and to their chairman (Mr. S. A. R. Mair), who attended to all details and also gave instructive information as to the correct names of trees, shrubs and flowers. flower show at tutaenui The Upper Tutaenui branch of the Womens Division of the Farmers' Union will hold their annaui flower show in the Tutaenui Hall on Wednesday, February 8. An attractive programme has been arranged for adults and children. Transport will leave the Junction Hall at 9.30 a.m., Cawood's Corner 9.40 a.m.. Pukepapa-Wanganui Road corner at 9.45 a.m. Al picnic folk are once more reminded of the about route to be taken by the cars. Private cars will not leave before 9.30, and will, if possible, travel with the other cars.

The combined committee will be ii. charge of the grounds and each member of the committee is asked to attend to their duties, promptly, as there are several long events, and il is hoped to make it a picnic for ail members and to enable all those present to take part. The committee (combined) desires to thank all those who have given donations of prizes, transport or service of other nature. The usual levy of 6d per family is to be charged again this year.
