PHYSICAL FITNESS WEEK FULL PROGRAMME ARRANGED (Own Corespondent . PATEA. Feb. 3. The following programme was adopted for Fitness Week, at a meeting on Tuesday evening:— Saturday, February 18. —1.30 p.m.: Band parade to domain. 1.45 p.m.: Address by the Mayor. 2 p.m.: Tennis Club demonstration by leading players; Cricket Club demonstration of play by leading players; match for all comers—Town v. Country. Sunday, February 19. Special church services. 2 p.m.: Surf Club demonstration of life-saving. Monciav, February 20.—3 p.m., school: Address by the Mayor to ail school children. 3.15 to 4 p-m., school: Demonstration cricket. 5.30 p.m.: Golf Club demonstration of play—“all in” foursomes. Tuesday, February 21.—3.4 p.m.: I School tennis demonstration. 5.30 p.m.: Bowling Club demonstration. Wednesday, February 22. — 3.4 p.m.: School athletics. 5.30 p.m.: Athletic meeting in Domain. Thursday, February 23.—2.30 p.m.: Croquet demonstration. 3.4 p.m., school: Swimming and life-saving demonstration. 7.30 p.m.: Miniature Rifle Club, address by Mr. D. Roots on shooting. I Friday. February 24.-3 p.m., school: Boxing demonstration. 7 p.m.: Band parade and Boy Scouts and Giii Guides. 7.30 to 7.45 p.m.: Addresses through public address system. ! Saturday, February 25.-2 p.m.: I Beach carnival; programme airanged i by Beach Society. 3 p.m., Boxing Association: Open-air demonstration of boxing and wrestling at beach. Broker fpr having drawn up the programme. ( ENTENNI AL M EMORIAL Regarding a Centennial memorial, a committee comprising Mesdames K. I W. Haddow, A. A. Carey, Messrs. E. F. Hemingway, G. Broker, G. Francis and H. Peacocke were appointed to investigate suggestions for schemes for a Centennial memorial in Patea, ano to report at a subsequent meeting. Lengtny discussion was held on the matter and suggestions put forward were the erection of a paddling pool and swimming at the beach; an addition to the library for the purpose of a reference library, and support for the suggested mothers’ home as a provincial memorial. Mr. E. F. Hemingway presided, and Messrs. R. J. Watt and G. J. Broker represented the County Council. AMATEUR ATHLETICS Wednesday evening runs resulted. Boys’ 75 yards: J. Winchester 1, D. Williams 2, P. Cunningham 3. Mens 100 yards: R. Fitzwater 1, N. Gardiner 2, L. Fisher 3. Girls’ 100 yards. L. Lake 1, D. Barnes 2, O. Harris a. Boys’ 100 yards: D. Williams 1, J. Winchester 2, D. Hermon 3. BRIDGE TO-BEACH RACE The annual bridge-to-beach race for the Locker Cup will take place tomorrow at 11 a.m. All competitors are in training and interest centres round C. Haining, winner for the last two years, and who will retain the cup if won again to-morrow. Entries are: C. Haining, R. Sopp, M. Boagey, E. Oakley, J. Pepperill, T. Hills, B. Usher, W. Davidson, R. Adams, K. Bourke, T. Partridge, N. Gardiner, F. Verney, C. and G. McKenna. BOWLING AT PATEA A splendid game was played at Patea on Thursday between Waverley and Patea veterans’ teams, ending in a draw after keen excitement. Results were as follows, Patea mentioned first: Bourke, Ramsbottom, McClymont, Williams 22, v. Nichol, Watkins, Howie, Dalton 22.
