OHAKUNE MAGISTRATE’S COURT

(Own Correspondent.) OHAKUNE, Feb. 2. The following cases were heard before Mr. R. M. Watson, S.M., at Ohakune on Wednesday. Disorderly Behaviour. Rangi Winiata was charged with disorderly behaviour while drunk, driving a motor-car without a licence, and without a warrant of fitness. Defendant, for whom Mr. L. V. Ritchie appeared, on the first charge was convicted and fined £l, costs £1 2s. translation fee ss, expenses of service ss, witnesses’ expenses £1 Ils 6d. The second charge was dismissed and on the third charge was fined £1 with Court costs 10s and translation fee ss. Unlawful Conversion of a Motor-car. Willie Moses was charged with the unlawful conversion of a car and with having no driving licence. In giving evidence Rangi Winiata (owner of the car) said he gave authority to a man named Stephenson and not Moses to take the c ir home for him. Constable Frost stated that he had interviewed Moses who had stated that Winiata had given b m leave to drive the car up to his house. The dei'erdant had the charge ot unlawful conversion dismissed but on the charge r.f having nn driving licence was fined £1 with Court costs 10s and translation fen ss. Motor By-laws. Vincent Joseph Hurley was charged with driving a motor-car on the Karioi Road in December with a trailer unregistered attached. The traffic inspector said that he had met the defendant driving a car with a trailer attached. The car’s warrant of fitness had expired in October and the trailer was unregistered. Ordered to pay amount forthwith in default 21 days in Wanganui coal. Warrant suspended so long as debtor pays £2 per month. W. H. Boswell v. Pat Walsh, claim £3 15s 4d. No appearance of debtor. Ordered to pay amount forthwith, in default five days in Wanganui goal. Warrant suspended so long as debtor pays £1 per calendar month.
