PLAZA THEATRE

“THERE GOES MY HEART.” “There Goes My Heart,” which commences screening at the Plaza Theatre to-day, is the first film to be produced under Hal Roach's new arrangement with United Artists. It is said to be the merriest comedy romance to come to the screen since “Merrily We Live.” The leading roles are played by Virginia Bruce and Fredric March, and the supporting cast includes Patsy Kelly, Eugene Palette, Alan Mowbray, Nancy Carroll, and Arthur Lake. The story tells of a madcap heiress who becomes bored with her fortune and her yacht, goes to work in a bargain basement, and eats hamburgers with a roving reporter instead of caviare. It was written by the well-known columnist Ed Sullivan and opens with Joan Butterfield (Virginia Bruce), “The richest girl in the world” sailing away on the quiet with her grandfather's yacht and cutting loose in New York, freedom and adventure bound. The heiress is recognised by a roving reporter (Fredric March). Pretending to believe her just another shopgirl, they are soon having a grand time, and unexpected adventure in a new world for the heiress. Although she succeeded in running away from her millions she could not run away from the love that developed between them. The swiftmoving story of their gay romping romance makes happy screen entertainment. Some of the most hilarious scenes are those that take place in an ice-skating ring and in a department store showing Patsy Kelly demonstrating electric vibrators. “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” After playing for seasons of as much as five weeks in the larger centres in New Zealand, Walt Disney’s full-length feature “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” will commence at the Plaza Theatre on Monday week, February 13. Three sessions will be held daily, screenings being at 2, 4.30 and 8 p.m. The 4.30, p.m. should be a favourite with schoolchildren.
