Mr. J. B. Cotterill. M.P. for Wanganui, leaves for Wellington this morning on Parliamentary business.

Dr. C. M. Dawson, a recentlyelected member of the Legislative Council of Samoa, who has been on a short holiday visit to New Zealand, left on his return to Apia by the Matua yesterday.

The Rev. G. F. W. Quids, vicar of Matamata, will leave Auckland on February 6 on a visit to England. During his absence the Rev. F. Quintrell. will be in charge of the Matamata parish.

Dr. R. M. Campbell, economic ad-, viser to the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London, Mr. W. J. Jordan, will arrive at Auckland by the Monterey on February 17. He expects to be back in London by May.

Messrs. J. J. Scott (Wanganui), J. B. Davis (Westmere), F. H. Powell (Hunterville), and C. R. Leach (Westmere) have been appointed as Justices of the Peace according to the latest issue of the New Zealand Gazette.

Messrs. R. Smith and A. Morey, of Auckland, New Zealand double sculls champions, arrived from Auckland yesterday en route to Wellington regatta to-morrow and the New Zealand rowing championships at Picton on February 11.

Messrs. G. H. Pownall and G. S. Babbage left for Wellington yesterday to represent Wanganui at the conference of the New Zealand Navy League, which is to be addressed by Earl Beatty, son of the late Admiral of the Fleet.

Captain G. E. Warner, a retired master mariner who formerly commanded many of the Cunard White Star Line’s transatlantic pasenger ships, who, with Mrs. Warner, has spent the past two months in New Zealand, left by the Matua yesterday for Rarotonga,' where they now reside.

Mr. A. B. Christensen, who is leaving Wanganui to reside in Christchurch, was farewelled by members of the Gonville Bowling Club on Wednesday. Mr. W. Healey, president of the club, said that Mr. Christensen had filled the position of treasurer for many years, and had taken over the position when the club was experiencing a lean time. Mr. Christensen was the recipient of a presentation from the club.

With a party of 25 police from Hamilton and surrounding districts, including Inspector C. Lopdell, officer in charge of the Hamilton police district, and Senior-Sergeant E. J. Carroll, of Rotorua, escorting the hearse impressive scenes were witnessed at the funeral of Ihe late Constable H. G. Roberts on Tuesday afternoon at Rotorua. Constable Roberts, who during his short service in Rotorua had earned the popularity of the whole community, was severely Injured on December 15 when he struck his head while diving in Lake Rotoiti. In addition to the police party there was a large attendance of the business community, including members of the legal profession the borough department and the Courthouse staff.
